Mobility Club Maroc and Essilor are committed to road safety and the good vision of road users as part of the 1st African Road Safety Forum in Marrakesh.
In the face of the major risk of uncorrected poor vision for the safety of people on the road, Essilor, the world leader in optics, and Mobility Club Morocco (MCM) are launching a national program of initiatives around a common ambition to improve road safety by improving everyone’s vision.
During the major event that constitutes the 1st African Road Safety Forum to be held from 13 to 15 November in Marrakesh, Mobility Club Morocco (MCM), a member of the International Automobile Federation (FIA), and Essilor will announce their partnership, which will be reflected in Morocco through a series of joint initiatives and awareness-raising campaigns aimed at different stakeholders: public authorities, the media, businesses and users of the road in the broad sense.
According to WHO figures, Africa has the highest rate of traffic-related deaths at 26.6 per 100,000 population, compared to 17.4 globally. Half of the victims of the road are pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists. With only 2% of vehicles in the world, the African continent records 20% of fatal accidents. In Morocco, the Ministry of Transport recorded nearly 90,000 road accidents in 2017, with a number of fatal road accidents of 3,085.
