A total of 27,317 applicants for irregular migration, including 20,141 of foreign nationality, were arrested in 2019. This was announced this week by the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN).
In addition to these arrests, the DGSN seized 3,021 false travel documents or identity documents. By publishing its most important results of 2019, the police institution took the opportunity to present its action program for the year 2020. It indicated that it had arrested 505 organizers of operations of illegal migration suspected of being involved in 62 criminal networks specializing in human trafficking and the organization of illegal migration.
Similarly, in 2019, 990 individuals suspected of being linked to 509 criminal networks active in theft on the public highway were arrested.
Regarding drug-related cases, 127,049 people were arrested, an increase of 38% compared to 2018, with a record record in the quantities of drugs seized, said the same source.
