A network of baby trafficking dismantled in Casablanca

Casablanca was shaken by a terrible scandal. A trafficking network of babies was dismantled and several suspects, including women, were brought to court on Sunday, January 6, before the King’s Attorney at the Casablanca Court of Appeal.

According to a statement, a raid took place in an apartment in Oued Dahab neighborhood in Mohammedia after reports that several women carrying infants often went to this house.

After an investigation by the competent prosecutor’s office, it turned out to be a criminal network run by several women. The latter were looking for single mothers wishing to get rid of their babies and took them, for a few dirhams. They then sold them at a high price to sterile couples wishing to adopt.

Two sisters, two sterile women and a maid at the maternity ward of Ibn Rochd University Hospital in Casablanca, who played the role of intermediary, were finally arrested. Three babies only three days old, a child of 5 years and another of 2 years were also found in this apartment, reports the statement, adding that they were in critical condition.
