SGTM and Tekcim have just announced the financing of the construction of a new cement plant in the El Jadida region with a banking consortium bringing together the African Development Bank, BMCE Bank of Africa, the Banque Centrale Populaire and Societe Generale Maroc. This financing is part of a total investment program of more than MAD 2.6 billion carried by Tekcim.
It will be dedicated to the construction of a cement plant with a nominal capacity of 3,600 t/d of clinker, it means 1.4 million tonnes of cement per year. This project will help meet the growing demand for cement to meet growing housing and infrastructure needs in Morocco and the African continent. The site of the cement plant is located in the rural district of Oulad Ghanem.
The construction of this cement plant was entrusted by Tekcim to a consortium consisting of SGTM and the Danish group FLSmidth. It will be spread over a period of 3 years for commissioning scheduled in 2022.
