The tramway and a truck collided today on Wednesday at Mohammed VI Avenue in Casablanca.
According to a source, six people were injured at various degrees, stating that the tramway was out of the tracks following the collision.
The wounded were immediately transferred to the hospital to receive the necessary care. In parallel, the damaged train was evacuated to the company depot to allow the tramway to resume its normal course. The same source confided that the traffic was blocked since the first hours of this Wednesday because of this accident.
“A truck hit a train and caused its derailment, the traffic is interrupted all along the line,” announced RATP Dev Casablanca Wednesday morning. “RATP Dev Casablanca calls for accountability and reiterates the importance of respecting the rules of the highway code and road signs by all road users (motorists, motorcyclists, bicycles and pedestrians) and recalls the need for be very careful around tram platforms”, says RATP Dev.
A “gradual resumption of traffic on track 1, that is to say in the direction Sidi Moumen to Ain Diab or to Faculties”, was then announced. “By contrast, on the track 2, the trams will resume their work only between Faculties and United Nations and between Ain Diab and United Nations”.
