Dortmund sports director Michael Zorc gave an update on Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi on loan to the German club from Real Madrid.
“The contractual situation of Achraf is clear, he will return to Real Madrid for the time being” after the end of his two-year loan contract, Zorc said on Thursday in a press briefing, which left, however, the door opened to a possible return of the 21-year-old player to the ranks of the German team.
“However, we are trying to make sure he plays with us again next season,” he said. “I think it is too early to discuss it now,” said the Dortmund sports official.
Hakimi’s agent Alejandro Camano said the Moroccan player’s desire to return to Real Madrid after two years on loan to Borussia Dortmund.
“Hakimi is expected to return to Real Madrid at the end of this season. He has a great desire to do so and we are still in contact with the leaders of the team in the Spanish capital,” Camano said in a statement.
According to Camano, Hakimi’s only goal is to play and participate in matches to continue his development after two spectacular seasons in the Bundesliga, noting that discussions are underway in this direction with the leaders of the Madrid club.
