The African Football Confederation (CAF) has approved the request of the Egyptian Football Federation to delay the start of the African Nations Cup, which will be held this summer in the Egyptian capital, for a week.
According to local newspaper reports, the Egyptian Football Federation received a correspondent from the “CAF” confirming that it agreed to postpone the tournament for a week.
According to Ahmed Shubair, vice president of the Egyptian Football Federation, in a televised comments on Saturday evening, the country’s football federation “received approval from the African Union to postpone the start of the 2019 African Nations Championship for one week”.
The North African national team has already applied for the continental union to postpone the continental tournament for only one week due to the timing of the preparation of the tournament with the month of Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr.
The continental tournament was scheduled to start from June 15 to July 13, before being postponed for a week to start on June 22.
