Alstom wins a € 130 million contract in Morocco

Alstom, which specializes in the transport sectors, mainly rail, has just won a contract worth 130 million euros to supply additional trams to Casablanca, the French company announced.

Alstom won a contract with Casa Transports, the company managing public transport in Casablanca, to supply the latter with 66 Citadis X05 trams with an option of 22 additional trams for lines 3 and 4, which are scheduled to open at the end of 2023, indicates a press release from Alstom which specifies that the contract amounts to 130 million euros.

At the request of Casa Transports, the new generation of trams will be fitted with the most recent passenger information systems. In addition, in accordance with Casa Transports requirements, Alstom offers a Casablanca-like design, which reflects its history and culture.

The Citadis trams will be partly manufactured in Barcelona and several suppliers based in Morocco will participate in the production of the subsystems which will also be integrated in Spain.

In addition, the Alstom plant in Fez will supply the electrical cabinets and wire harnesses. And after delivery and before commissioning, the trams will be subjected to static and dynamic tests at the customer’s site. Finally, the Alstom team in Morocco will provide after-sales service.
