American Mosaic complains about OCP exports to USA

The American firm Mosaic, based in Florida, complains of imports of phosphate fertilizers into the United States. It has filed petitions with the United States Department of Commerce and the International Trade Commission (ITC) requesting the initiation of countervailing duty investigations into imports of phosphate fertilizers from Morocco and Russia.

Mosaic, the largest US producer of phosphate fertilizers, said it had taken this action, “as large volumes of unjustly subsidized imports from Morocco and Russia are causing material injury to Mosaic’s business.”

The United States Department of Commerce and the US International Trade Commission (ITC) are expected to review these petitions and decide what steps to take. Note that the OCP Group is the leading exporter of phosphates in the world, with 9 million tonnes sold in 2019.
