German Chancellor Angela Merkel arrived in Marrakech on Sunday (9 December) to take part in the UN Intergovernmental Conference (10-11 December) with a view to the official adoption of the Global Compact on Migration.

Moreover, King Mohammed VI should receive in audience the German Chancellor early next week.
Recall that the Marrakesh Conference, sponsored by the UN, should involve the participation of 190 countries, and will enable the adoption of the Global Compact on Migration. It should accommodate between 5,000 and 6,000 participants, besides hundreds of journalists.
This high mass will be attended by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, UN Heads of State and Government, and a large number of senior officials and experts.
