At the prestigious “African Banker 2021 Trophies” award ceremony, organized on the sidelines of the Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank, Attijariwafa bank was elected “Best regional bank in North Africa”.

This trophy is awarded to the bank that has excelled in its region, gaining new customers, offering new services, embracing inclusion by prospecting the unbanked, using new technologies and helping to strengthen the financial sector in the region.

Organized under the high patronage of the African Development Bank, the African Banker Awards have become the bank’s most recognized event in Africa. They celebrate the successes of financial leaders and pay tribute to the achievements of African bankers. The organizers this year wanted to reward financial institutions by recognizing their contribution to the economy of the continent which has suffered greatly from COVID.

Omar Ben Yedder, Editor of African Banker Magazine and Managing Director of IC Publications said: “I am deeply impressed with this year’s winners. Their success shows that the African banking sector is healthy and resilient and shows that the bank will play a critical role in economic recovery. Support for the real economy, especially SMEs, is essential. We will also have to increase our savings rate and our investments. The general trend among banks is to favor, support and promote women entrepreneurs”.
