Total money printed in 2018 amounted to more than one billion banknotes, says Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM) in its annual report for the past year.
Indeed, the Central Bank has produced 516 million Moroccan banknotes and 525 million foreign banknotes in 2018, said this report presented Monday in Tetouan, before King Mohammed VI, by Wali Bank Al-Maghrib Abdellatif Jouahri. The production of coins, meanwhile, concerned 80.5 million units, said the same source. Regarding the production of secure documents, BAM has produced 1.5 million passports and more than 11 million secure documents including stamps, stamps, cards and other types of secure documents.
The report also shows that starting in 2020, the Central Bank will also be responsible for manufacturing the next generation of driver’s licenses and electronic registration cards. In this regard, a partnership agreement was signed on 28 February 2018 with the Ministry of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water.
