BCIJ: Dismantling of a terrorist cell in Nador

As part of ongoing efforts to counter the terrorist threat, the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ), under the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), succeeded in coordination with the Spanish National Police, to dismantle a terror cell that is a supporter of “Daech”, carrying terrorist projects and composed of 4 members between 24 and 39 years old.

This operation, which is part of the cooperation between the Moroccan and Spanish security services, has stopped three individuals bustling in the region of Farkhana and Beni Nsar (Nador), whose brother a fighter on the Syrian-Iraqi scene, said a statement from the BCIJ, stating that the head of this cell was arrested simultaneously in the suburbs of the Spanish capital, Madrid.

The first elements of the investigation proved that the extremist members of this cell adhered to propaganda campaigns praising the bloody acts of “Daech”, while intensifying appeals of incitement in retaliation for the death of  “caliph” presumed of this terrorist organization, added the same source.

The investigation showed that the elements of this cell organized meetings to monitor the current situation of the Syrian-Iraqi scene and plan terrorist operations in response to repeated calls from “Daech” leaders targeting various countries of the world, said the BCIJ. The operation seized electronic equipment, mobile phones, hoods, and extremist books and manuscripts, the statement said. This joint security operation comes at a time when the terrorist threat, which lurks in the two kingdoms, continues to grow, as the “Daech” allies expand their activities outside the zones of tension, with the help of incentive campaigns in various countries. The suspects will be brought to justice at the end of the investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office, the statement said.
