Bombardier plans to lay off 5,000 employees

Bombardier has announced a reduction of approximately 5,000 jobs globally over the next 12 to 18 months. The aerospace and railroad equipment manufacturer says the decision is part of a number of strategic measures, including launching a program to streamline its structure and improve productivity.

This program is expected to generate annual savings of approximately 250 Million Dollars “when the reduction has been fully achieved, which should be achieved by 2021,” says the Canadian group, its results for the third quarter of 2018. No details concerning the sites concerned.

In Morocco, the group has a plant for aeronautics in Casablanca and announced in 2017 a proposed industrial site in Kenitra for rail.
