The African Confederation of Football (CAF) announced on Friday that Cameroon will host the 2021 edition of the African Nations Cup.
The Confederation confirmed in a statement on its official website that the Cameroonian president sent an official letter to CAF, in which he announced the approval of hosting the African Cup of Nations Cup 2021, after the decision to withdraw the organization of the 2019 version of them.
The statement said that CAF, headed by Ahmed Ahmed, “has been subjected to a strong campaign over the past few weeks through false and misleading information, aimed at defaming the governing body of football in Africa,” explaining that all decisions taken in the past period “came Conform to the laws and regulations in force. “
The statement noted that the decision to withdraw the organization of the 2019 edition of the Continental Cup from Cameroon came after discussing reports from the inspection committees.
CAF decided to withdraw the 2019 African Cup of Nations on 30 November from Cameroon, due to delays in the completion of the infrastructure and stadium facilities, in addition to the volatile security situation in some parts. Following the decision, Egypt and South Africa applied for the trophy.
