The Balearia ferry from Algeciras (Cádiz) to Tangier Med collided with container ship Carolina Star, near the Tangier port on Moroccan waters, media reported on Wednesday.
On the Twitter account of the port of Algeciras, the administration explains that the Moroccan authorities have reported the accident between the two vehicles. The collision occurred during the imminent arrival of the ferry to Tangier Med, without causing any human damage.
The accident, however, put the ship out of service in full peak reception of Moroccans living abroad via the port, through the Marhaba operation. That said, the port of Algeciras says that the link with Tangier Med “continues to function normally with ten other ferries”.
The ferry will reach the Spanish port in the next hours to be repaired and to be able to join the reception device.
