It’s moving for the future wind farm of Boujdour. The contracts for this 300 MW project were signed by ONEE, the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN) and the consortium of Nareva Holding (Morocco) and Italian company Enel Green Power. The group won the contract with the German wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa Renewables.
The future wind farm is located about 7 km north-east of the city of Boujdour and will mobilize an investment of about MAD 4 billion. This project will be the 2nd of the 850 MW integrated wind farm which will be commissioned gradually from 2021. It should be noted that this large 850 MW project will consist of 5 wind farms, which will be located in Midelt (180 MW), Boujdour (300 MW), Jbel Lahdid in Essaouira (200 MW), Tiskrad in Tarfaya (100 MW) and Tangier II (70 MW).
It is a part of the national energy strategy, whose objective is to reach 52% of the installed power based on renewable energy by 2030. Note that the overall projected electricity generation of the integrated wind project will allow to save 2.38 million tons of CO2 per year, the equivalent of the consumption of a city like Casablanca.
