Coronavirus: A team in Morocco deciphers the genome of the virus

A team of Moroccan academics has successfully deciphered the genome of the SARS-Covid19 virus, which arrived in Morocco in late March-early April this year.

The Genoma project of the MedBiotech laboratory, supported by the ministry in charge of scientific research, has succeeded in analyzing more than 3,000 covid19 genomes worldwide, aimed at deciphering the covid19 code present in Morocco.

This operation was carried out thanks to a new technique introduced in Morocco by “Nanopore Oxford”, indicated in a post on Facebook, Pr Ibrahimi, previously in function at the university “Stony Brook” in New York.

The results of this analysis, which have shown the limits of the mutation of the virus, will be published in an international specialized journal, specified Pr Ibrahimi, who added that they will help to make more effective the treatments and vaccines under development.
