Coronavirus: Ministry of Health warns against hammams

The Ministry of Health has warned of the risk of the spread of covid-19 in steam rooms. In his weekly statement Tuesday on the epidemiological situation, Mouad Mrabet, the coordinator of the National Center for Public Health Emergency Operations at the ministry, said that the Moorish baths are favorable environments for the development of epidemiological outbreaks.

“No preventive measures are observed in the hammams. In these places, which lack ventilation, it is difficult to respect physical distancing, which represents a real risk, especially for the elderly or those suffering from chronic diseases”, he assured, adding that it is better not to go there these days because of the considerable increase in the number of contaminations.

Recall that 1245 new cases of coronavirus infection and 1061 recoveries have been recorded in Morocco over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday.

This new report brings to 44803 the number of contaminations in the Kingdom since the first case reported on March 2 and to 31002 that of people fully recovered, a cure rate of 69%, said Mouad Mrabet.

The death toll rose to 714, with 33 new deaths recorded in the past 24 hours, he added.
