Vigeo Eiris has just published the list of the most successful companies in terms of social responsibility and management of their sustainability risks (CSR). The international independent research and services agency ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) has drawn up a list of 16 companies out of the first 44 capitalizations of the place Casablanca who obtained this distinction, independent and free, resulting from their unsolicited rating. Thus, the 10 Top Performers on global score are Attijariwafa Bank, BCP, BMCE Bank, BMCI, Cosumar, Maroc Telecom, Lydec, Managem, OCP and SMI.
6 other companies stand out on a specific theme: Colorado, LafargeHolcim Morocco, Lesieur Cristal, TAQA Morocco, Total Morocco, Wafa Assurance. This year, Moroccan companies slightly improved their average score (+1 point) to 25 out of 100. They also recorded a rise in reporting (+4%).
On the other hand, the rating of business ethics remains low and decreases (-1.6 points). The information available rate compared to the information expected is up (47% in 2019, compared to 43% in 2018 and 40% in 2017 and 2015). Companies also improved their governance score (+2 points), although the average score is still low (17.7/100).
Progress has also been noted in the area of respect for human rights, with a score still below international averages. Vigeo Eiris also notes a weak performance Over the 2017-2019 period, the rating allocated to governance rose by 2 points, but in the environmental field (average of 21.9/100). “The effect of the COP 22 that the Kingdom had hosted in November 2016 seems to be running out, even though some Moroccan companies stand out thanks to commitments and indicators in line with the best international standards,” the agency notes.
This year, five companies significantly improved their scores: BMCI (+11 points); OCP (+10); Attijariwafa Bank (+7); Lydec (+6); Total Morocco (+6).
