The boss of Facebook and Instagram, Mark Zuckerberg, has indicated that to better compete with other platforms like TikTok or YouTube, Facebook plans to spend more than a billion dollars in programs intended to compensate the creators of content disseminated on its social networks by the end of 2022.
In a message posted on his account, Zuckerberg explained that the goal is to “create the best platforms for millions of creators to make a living”.
“Investing in creators is nothing new to us, but I am excited to expand this work over time,” he added, promising “more details soon”.
Social networks offer artists, influencers and other personalities a way of earning a living, thanks to the advertisements broadcast on their accounts, but also to the organization of paid online events or to the remuneration paid by certain platforms according to their popularity.
These companies take a significant proportion of these advertising revenues.
