Fez: Arrest of an Algerian wanted by Interpol

The prefecture of the judicial police of Fez has arrested an Algerian national, object of an official request for extradition issued by the Algerian judicial authorities, and this for its alleged links with a criminal network active in the international traffic of drugs.

According to a statement from the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN), the suspect (36 years) was arrested while he was completing the formalities for obtaining the residence card in Morocco, after the operation of his score in the database, under the control of Interpol, showed that he is the subject of an international arrest warrant by the Algerian judicial authorities, for his alleged involvement in the trafficking of a quantity of chira seizure in 2018.

The accused was placed in custody at the disposal of the investigation carried out under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office before submitting it to the judicial authority competent to decide in the extradition request issued by the Algerian judicial authorities.

The arrest of this individual is part of sustained efforts by national security services to strengthen the mechanisms of international security cooperation to combat terrorism and cross-border organized crime.
