In 2018, France has issued more than 3.5 million visas, an increase of 4.4% over 2017, according to provisional data released Tuesday by the Ministry of the Interior. In total, visa applications reached 4.2 million, an increase of 7.2%.
By nationality, the Chinese top of the beneficiaries (875,994) before the Russians (372,451) and Moroccans (334,016). Then come the Algerians (297,104), Indians (268,239), Tunisians (154,011), Turks (125,290) and Saudis (93,313). Schengen short stay visas increased at the same rate (+ 4.3%), still driven by the growth of tourist visas.
It should be noted that Moroccans are in second position for access to the residence permit for the first time with 29,822 titles issued against 30,869 for Algerians.
