The Moroccan futsal selection climbs to 23rd in the world and takes first position at the African level, according to the latest Futsal World Ranking recognized by FIFA and published on Tuesday.
Reigning African champions, Hicham Dguig’s men are ranked 23rd in the world rankings, credited with 1267 points.
At the African level, Morocco climbed to first position, ahead of Egypt (24th world, 1263), while Libya is third with a total of 1095 points (41st world). At the top of the world hierarchy, Spain is in the lead (1808), followed by Brazil (2nd, 1803 pts) while Argentina completes the podium (3rd, 1694 pts).
The national team gleaned points in particular during the African Cup of Nations whose title was won by the Atlas Lions at the expense of the Pharaohs of Egypt (5-0), during the 6th edition of the African competition contested from January 28 to February 7 in Laâyoune.
