Geneva: Morocco participates for the 72nd World Health Assembly

The 72nd World Health Assembly (WHA), the highest decision-making body of the World Health Organization (WHO), opened on Monday in Geneva, with the participation of delegations representing the 194 member states of the Organization, including Morocco.

The WHA, dedicated this year to the unifying theme of universal health coverage, will focus on defining the guidelines for its health agenda, in addition to topical issues, including the recent outbreak of the haemorrhagic fever epidemic Ebola, access to medicines and vaccines, the issue of health for all, the WHO budget, and the health implications of climate change.

In an address at the opening session, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus emphasized the importance of primary health care as a means of ensuring health for all.
