The Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech could have a statue with his image. With a budget of 25 million euros, the municipality of Dronten, the player’s hometown, wants to renovate its public space and proposes to build a statue in honor of the player.
According to the Dutch press, Ziyech is among the long list of celebrities that the municipality wants to immortalize. The choice will be based on the vote of the 45,000 inhabitants of the city who have until November to decide.
“The city council decided in June that neither the council nor the executive would interfere in the choice. It’s a work of art for the public hall,” church spokeswoman Margot van Staveren told reporters.
Recall that Hakim Ziyech was born on March 19, 1993 in Dronten. His football debut was in amateur clubs Reaal Dronten and ASV Dronten before starting his professional career in 2004 at the SC Heerenveen Academy.
