Decidedly, Hakim Ziyech starts the season well. Ajax Amsterdam beat Venlo (1-4) away on Friday, and the Moroccan international scored its third goal of the season in all competitions.
Recall that Ziyech was coveted by major European clubs. Liverpool, Arsenal, Dortmund, Rome and even Bayern had shown interest in the star of Ajax.
The Moroccan international has finally extended his contract with Ajax Amsterdam until 2022.
“Good evening of Ajax. I’m happy because I just extended my contract until 2022,” he said. “Last season was unforgettable. I want to improve my performances and relive strong moments with Ajax. That’s why I stay,” Ziyech added on Instagram.
With this announcement, Ajax is keeping a key element of last season in its ranks, waiting to strengthen. The departure of Frenkie de Jong had been active for a long time. De Ligt is at Juventus. Schöne in Genoa and Donny Van de Beek is not yet fixed on his fate. Losing too much of the backbone that brought Ajax to the Champions League semi-finals would have been too risky.
