Health Minister insists on the obligation to wear a mask

Health Minister Khalid Ait Taleb insisted to wear a mask and comply with barrier measures to halt the spread of the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19).

The epidemiological situation has been marked in recent days by “the appearance of serious cases and an increasing number of deaths,” the minister said in a statement to the press, calling on citizens to respect preventive measures, including face masks protection.

The epidemic is experiencing an acceleration on a planetary scale, which evolution “which follows a logical path according to climate change”, calls, according to him, on the need to respect the barrier measures in order to protect the health of everyone, including the most vulnerable and those with underlying illnesses. “The situation remains unpredictable but we are sparing no effort to stem this viral infection with all the means we have”, he assured.

While inviting the citizens to avoid any relaxation in the respect of the preventive measures during this summer period, Ait Taleb indicated that “the situation is heterogeneous on a national scale, insofar as certain zones knew a fluctuation in a very short time short”.

On Monday, the ministry urged citizens to comply with the preventive measures decided to fight against the coronavirus, faced with the increase in the number of deaths and critical cases recorded in recent days.

According to the department, the increasing number of deaths and critical cases of Covid-19 infection, during the second phase of the gradual lifting of containment measures, is due to non-compliance with preventive measures in terms of wearing mandatory mask, respect for physical distance, regular hand washing and use of the “wiqaytna” application.
