Huawei continues its momentum and signs a new partnership with Abdelmalek Essaidi University in Tetouan. As part of the education program “Huawei ICT Academy”, the training to be provided by the Chinese telecom giant is as much for students (more than 100,000 today) as their teachers. It will accelerate digitalization and become familiar with new technologies.
The Huawei ICT Academy program, born from a Huawei/MEN agreement in September 2018, aims to equip students with ICT skills and promote their integration into the labor market. It is about reconciling theory and practice in order to cope with the gap between the knowledge acquired in universities and the skills needed for the job market.
Under this agreement, Huawei will provide training services to university-based higher education institutions and will provide expertise in mapping trends in technology development in the ICT sector.
It can even go further by accompanying them to create new disciplines and obtain adequate teaching materials. “It’s about allowing young people to be better aligned with the expectations of the job market,” says Frédéric Gao, managing director of Huawei Technologies Morocco.
“This agreement is a step forward for the university in its rapprochement with China,” notes, for its part, Houdaifa Ameziane, president of the Abdelamelk Essaidi University.
As a reminder, the university present through 16 institutions in Tangier, Tetouan, Larache, and Al Hoceima (and soon also in Ksar Kebir) was among the first to have hosted the Confucius Institute, dedicated to learning the language. Chinese and to discover the culture of this country with nearly 1,500 students per year.
At present, 4 institutions have already signed with Huawei. These are Mohammed V University of Rabat, Chouaib Doukkali of El Jadida, Cadi Ayyad of Marrakech and Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah of Fez. Other agreements are planned with other higher education institutions.
