Imlil Murders: Death penalty required against several accused

The public minister has asked for the death penalty for the three main defendants of the bestial murder of the two young Scandinavian tourists. Another request required for a fourth sidekick: life imprisonment for being one of the protagonists of the video allegiance to the pseudo Islamic State. The other defendants face prison sentences ranging from 10 to 30 years.

Here is the account, this Thursday, June 27, of what happened in the criminal chamber of the Salé Court of Appeal, against the twenty-four accused of perpetrating the double murder of the two Scandinavian tourists, Maren Ueland and Louisa Vesterager Jespersen.

The three people threatened with the death penalty are Abdessamad El Joud, presented as “the emir of the terrorist cell”, and his two accomplices Rachid Afati and Younes Ouziad. Abderrahmane Khayali was sentenced to life imprisonment. Three other defendants face thirty years in prison, while a fourth faces twenty-five years of imprisonment.

As for Kevin Zohler, the Spanish-Swiss national, he could be sentenced to twenty years in prison and eight other defendants. The other defendants face prison sentences ranging from ten to fifteen years, the penalties imposed on them by the Criminal Division of the Salé Court of Appeal.
