Instagram is getting a new tool to fight against misinformation. The social network of the Facebook group will have a tool that will make it possible to report publication then to choose “false information” and to attract the attention of independent fact-checkers so that they can verify it, explained a spokesperson from Facebook.
This new option will be operational by the end of August. “From today, people can report if they see posts on Instagram that they think are false,” said the spokeswoman.
Facebook was singled out for failing to take early serious attempts to misinform Russian power agencies close to the Kremlin. The social network has since strengthened its policy in this area.
