Interpol: 61,000 respiratory masks seized in Morocco

Interpol recently carried out an operation against pharmaceutical crime in the Middle East and North Africa in the midst of the Covid19 pandemic. From February 1 to April 1, 2020, this made it possible to seize, in Morocco, 61,000 respiratory masks and an artificial respirator.

In Jordan, 63,418 face masks and 360 disinfectant products were also seized, while in Qatar Interpol got hold of 85,000 medical products (masks, gloves, thermometers, medical glasses, …). In France, nearly 20 million illicit pharmaceutical items were withdrawn from the market as part of this regional descent.

In total, the operation known as “Qanoon” made it possible to recover illicit medical products worth more than $ 14 million.
