King Mohammed VI had a phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday, August 31, 2020, said the Royal Cabinet. The meeting is part of the friendly relations between the two countries, enhanced by the Joint Declaration on the Strategic Partnership, signed by the King and President Xi Jinping, during the royal visit to Beijing, in May 2016.
The King and the Chinese President also discussed the development of bilateral relations in all areas, including political dialogue, economic cooperation and cultural and human exchanges. They also discussed the partnership between the two countries in the fight against Covid-19. In this sense, the King thanked China “for the support and accompaniment it provided to the strong preventive measures taken by the Kingdom of Morocco in order to stem the spread of the pandemic, and this as well in terms of medical equipment and screening tests, only in terms of the exchange of information and expertise”, adds the press release from the Royal Cabinet.
The two Heads of State also discussed the future stages of operational cooperation between Rabat and Beijing, as part of the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
