King Mohammed VI’s doctor prescribes medical rest

King Mohammed VI recently contracted acute bilateral pneumonitis of viral origin, according to a statement from the Royal Cabinet.

“As a result, the personal physician of His Majesty The King has prescribed a medical rest of a few days,” the statement added, saying that the Sovereign “had planned to go to France, to present, in a private, condolences to the family and relatives of the late President Jacques Chirac, in view of the strong and deep relationships that have always bound the two families and the special affection and consideration given by the Sovereign to this great friend of Morocco”.

“His Majesty The King will be represented at the official funeral of the late French President by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan,” the statement said.
