Princess Lalla Hasnaa, President of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment, received yesterday, Friday in Tokyo, the annual prize awarded annually by the GOI Peace Foundation to reward the work or influence of a person for the development of a sustainable and peaceful world.
The award was presented to Princess Lalla Hasnaa by Hiroo Saionji, Chair of the GOI Peace Foundation Board of Trustees, which was established in 1999 and promotes dialogue and initiatives for peace. The award ceremony took place in the context of the “Create tomorrow, today” forum.
The GOI Peace Foundation International Prize has been awarded annually since 2000 to prominent figures such as Mikhail Gorbachev, Bill Gates, Oscar Arias Sánchez and environmentalist Lester Brown. In 2018, it is Princess Lalla Hasnaa’s lifelong commitment to environmental protection that the GOI Peace Foundation has sought to reward.
Lalla Hasnaa recounted this in her speech on this occasion, explaining her intuition as a mother at the outset of this commitment, an intuition that was later relayed by the action of her Foundation.
