The national platform “Morocco Digital University”, dedicated to open and massive online courses (MOOC), was launched Friday in Rabat. Developed in partnership between the Ministry of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research and the French Public Interest Group “GIP FUN-MOOC”, this platform, the first of its kind in the world. Morocco and Africa, also aims to develop small private online courses group (SPOC) and promote cooperation between Moroccan and French universities in distance learning common, adapted to the specificities of higher education in Morocco.
The platform offers content in various fields: education and training, engineering sciences, computer science, economics and finance, basic sciences, health, languages, management and entrepreneurship, the environment, the human sciences and the law. In a statement, the minister said that the “Morocco Digital University” project started in 2017 through a call for tenders that concerned all universities, for 49 selected projects.
For her part, the French Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Frédérique Vidal, noted that “Morocco Digital University”, which is one more example of cooperation between Morocco and France, is likely to lead more people in particular situations to take quality courses, such as people with disabilities or living far from cities. The French Minister is making a working visit to Morocco, accompanied by a high-level academic delegation, in the framework of strengthening cooperation relations in the fields of higher education and scientific research.
