Maroc Telecom will install landline phones for detainees

The General Delegation for Prison Administration and Rehabilitation (DGAPR) signed Wednesday, March 20 an agreement with Maroc Telecom on the sidelines of the 6th edition of the University of Spring, held on March 20 and 21 at the local prison of Beni Mellal.

This convention concerns the generalization in Moroccan prisons of fixed telephony services in order to allow prisoners to communicate regularly with their families and relatives.

Recall that among the themes that were discussed at this spring university held under the sign “The social protection of prisoners: a consolidation of programs dedicated to real reintegration”, we quote in particular “What model of social protection of prisoners? Comparative experiences”,”What place for prisoners in the reform of the social protection system in Morocco?”,”Legal provisions for the consolidation of social protection”or “The role of civil society in promoting the social protection of prisoners”. In closing, prizes were awarded to inmates who distinguished themselves in their schooling and in vocational training and literacy programs.

The opening of this sixth edition took place in the presence of the Minister of Health, Anas Doukkali, Minister Delegate for General Affairs and Governance, Lahcen Daoudi, Minister Delegate for Relations with Parliament and Society spokesman Mustapha El Khalfi, General Delegate for Prison Administration and Reintegration, Mohamed Salah Tamek, President of the National Council for Human Rights (CNDH), Amina Bouayach, President of the Institution of the Ombudsman of the Kingdom (IMR), Mohamed Benalilou, of the Wali, in charge of the national coordination of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH), Mohamed Dardouri, of the Wali of the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region, governor of Beni Mellal Province, Khatib El Hebil and Beni Mellal-Khénifra Regional Council Chairman Brahim Moujahid.
