Marrakech hosts the first Ironman in the Maghreb

This is a first in the Maghreb. An Ironman 70.3 will be held this Sunday, October 27 in Marrakech with the menu three events: swimming, cycling and running.

First city of the Maghreb to organize an Ironman 70.3, Marrakech stands like a mirage at the foot of mount Atlas and radiates its exceptional cultural and natural heritage.

A balance of treasures from the past and modernity, visitors can immerse themselves in the history of this mysterious city through its various monuments, palaces, museums and wonderful gardens or discover its various avant-garde and cosmopolitan places.

On the morning of the competition, the athletes will start in the calm waters of Lake Lalla Takerkoust for a swimming loop. At this time of year, the water temperature is about 20 °C. They will then follow the bike route, one of the fastest on the Ironman 70.3 circuit, passing through the village of Tahanaout and the green meadows of the Ourika Valley against the backdrop of the snowy peaks of the Atlas.

The route, closed to traffic, is very rolling with a positive elevation of 842m and a negative elevation of 1006m. The run will be organized in 2 loops in the heart of the ocher city. Athletes will be able to aim for their best time on a flat road punctuated by historical monuments such as the Koutoubia Minaret. Under the ovation of a mass audience, the athletes will be encouraged throughout the triathlon and this, to the finish line built within the famous international automobile circuit Moulay El Hassan.

A weekend full of triple effort in perspective with a wide range of events including Iron Girl races and Ironkids to fill all the fans, the Village Exhibitors and the race 70.3 to close.
