Marriott International announced Monday the opening of W Hotels, one of its luxury hotel brands, in Tangier in 2023. The US group made the announcement at the Africa Hotel Investment Forum (AHIF) held in Addis Ababa. In Africa, Marriott plans to launch 40 new hotels by 2023, an additional capacity of 8,000 rooms.
The group also announced the signing of an agreement to open its first property in Cape Verde. It also plans to strengthen its presence in Ethiopia, Kenya and Nigeria. Marriott’s development projects through 2023 are expected to generate more than $ 2 billion in investment and over 12,000 new jobs in Africa.
Marriott International’s current portfolio in Africa includes nearly 140 properties with more than 24,000 rooms in 14 brands and 20 countries and territories.
