The tutelary figure of contemporary world cinema, the American director Martin Scorsese, has offered to be the official sponsor of the Moroccan Cinematheque, announced Thursday the Moroccan Cinema Center (CCM).
On the sidelines of the 17th edition of the International Film Festival of Marrakesh, the director of the Moroccan Cinematheque, Narjiss Nejjar, initiated a meeting with Scorsese and presented to him the missions of the Moroccan Cinematheque.
Namely the collection, preservation and restoration of the Moroccan film heritage and its founding works, but also the transmission of film culture to future generations.
This sponsorship will allow the Moroccan Cinematheque to benefit from the expertise of “The Film Foundation”, a non-profit institution committed to the protection and preservation of world cinematographic works. In addition to its founder, Martin Scorsese, the institution brings together filmmakers such as Francis Ford Coppola, Woody Allen, Georges Lucas and Steven Spielberg.
