Migration: The African Union thanks Morocco

The 32nd Summit of the African Union, which closed yesterday, Monday, February 11, 2019 its work in Addis Ababa, expressed its gratitude to Morocco for its offer to host the headquarters of the African Migration Observatory.

The African Heads of State and Government also praised the important role that the African Migration Observatory will undertake for the implementation of the Marrakesh Pact on Migration.

The Summit also congratulated Morocco for its central role in hosting the Intergovernmental Conference that adopted the Global Compact for Orderly and Orderly Migration on 10 and 11 December 2018.

The African Heads of State and Government took note of the efforts deployed to operationalize the African Migration Observatory and welcomed the signature in Marrakesh last December of the Headquarters Agreement between the Kingdom of Morocco and the African Union Commission on the operationalization of the Observatory.
