Moroccans still addicted to social media

The “Digital 2020 Global Overview” report looks at digital, mobile and social media that have become “an indispensable part of the daily lives of people around the world”.

Regarding Morocco, the report from the past week highlights that the percentage of Internet usage is 69%, exceeding the global average of 59% by 10%.

Iceland, the United Arab Emirates, as well as Kuwait, hold the first places in the use of the Net, with almost 99%. While South Korea, South Sudan and Eritrea are at the bottom of the world. The inhabitants of the planet spend an average of 6 hours and 45 minutes, daily, consulting the Internet. The Filipinos are in first place on the podium with 9 hours and 45 minutes. The Japanese do not exceed 4 hours and 22 minutes per day.

But back to the Kingdom! According to the report, Moroccans spend, on average, 3 hours and 31 minutes surfing the web, via their mobile phones. Which slightly exceeds the world average of 3 hours and 22 minutes.

Still according to the “Digital 2020” report, the average of Moroccans’ social media accounts is 5.5 for each Internet user. And India has the highest global average for the number of accounts: 10.3 for each user of the Net.

The Kingdom also has the lowest global average for banking and financial applications. This average hardly exceeds 15% of Moroccan Internet users.

It is “Facebook” which holds the first position among Moroccans. The social network is followed by “Youtube”, “WhatsApp” and “Instagram”.

As for “Twitter”, it hardly seems to interest Moroccans who, having Chimene’s eyes for the other social networks mentioned above, only rarely tweet.
