Morocco: 26% increase in Foreign Direct Investment

The flow of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Morocco increased by 25.9% for the year 2018, reaching 32.8 billion dirhams against 26 billion dirhams a year earlier, according to the Office exchange.

This result is attributable to the increase in revenue (+11.7 billion dirhams), more pronounced than that of expenditure (+4.9 billion dirhams), explains the Office des changes in a note on its monthly indicators of foreign trade under 2018.

On the other hand, the flow of Moroccans’ Direct Investment Abroad fell by 45.1% to 5.4 billion dirhams during the last year, says the Office, stating that this decline follows the decline in Moroccan direct investment in foreign-made (-41%) higher than the sales of Moroccan direct investments abroad (-21.8%).

The note also shows that remittances by Moroccans living abroad decreased slightly by 1.7% to 64.8 billion dirhams in 2018.
