Morocco exported 51,000 tons of pumpkins to the world in 2018, worth $ 64 million just after Mexico and Spain, each of which exceeds $ 400 million.
On the other hand, the Kingdom ranks sixth in the exporters’ list by volume, 51,000 tonnes, just after Mexico (508,000 tonnes), Spain, New Zealand, the United States and Turkey (67 000 tonnes), according to the American research firm IndexBox.
“The global market is $ 22.6 billion in 2018,” says the firm. The average export price was $ 939 per tonne, up 1.5% year-on-year.
The United States is the main importer with about 34% of world imports, but mainly collaborates with Mexico in view of the geographical proximity. China remains the biggest consumer with 7.6 million tons per year.
