Morocco: 4 thousand homeless people roaming the streets

Minister of Family, Solidarity, Equality and Social Development Bassima Hakkaoui said on Monday that the number of homeless people on the streets of Morocco was 3,830 in 2018, including 241 children.

Answering a parliamentary question about the situation of homeless children in the street, Minister Hakkaoui said: “This phenomenon is disturbing and embarrassing to us as officials, citizens and society”.

In response to a question by the Justice and Development Group, the government official said that the sector concerned was “developing an integrated public policy to rehabilitate future structures and institutions that are taking the role of rescue from the street.” “Today we are putting together earthmoving equipment with all partners to protect children, and we bet on the role of students in this subject.”
