Morocco has announced its intention to introduce the Video Referee Assistance (VAR) for its top-flight league matches from next season.
The African football powerhouse joins Egypt as the first African leagues with plans to adopt technology, as Egypt had already made its intention known.
The move was announced by Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) president, Fouzi Lekjaa after a meeting he held with the referees association, Botola 1 club presidents and coaches.
“The work will be ready at the beginning of the season and the federation will take charge of the financial and technical implementation of the new systems”.
It should be recalled that since the inception of the video technology in football, it has only been used once in Africa, and was in both legs CAF Champions League final in 2018.
