A total of 8347 cultural and artistic activities were organized by the Ministry of Culture and Communication – Department of Culture, for the year 2018, of which 3496 activities related to the theater and the book (1901 theater and 1595 book ).
The publication of the annual achievements report is part of the upgrade of regional cultural management in the Kingdom, said a statement from the Ministry, noting that the region of Rabat-Sale-Kenitra has experienced the organization of 1315 activities, including 419 theater and 261 book, while the region of Fez-Meknes was marked by the organization of 1290 activities varied, including 270 relating to theater.
In addition, the document added, some 1212 activities, 323 of them in theater and 238 in books, took place in the Casablanca-Settat region, while 865 cultural and artistic activities, of which 264 were related to books and 158 to theater, were organized in the region of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima.
Some 667 cultural and artistic activities were organized in the Drâa-Tafilalet region, of which 137 were related to the book, while the Souss-Massa region had some 591 activities, including more than 122 theater-related activities, and the region of Beni Mellal-Khenifra has seen the organization of 577 activities, including 136 music shows, the source said.
More than 502 activities were organized in the Marrakesh-Safi region, 166 of which related to theater and 132 musical activities, while the Laayoune-Sakia-El Hamra region had some 407 diverse activities, including 109 cultural book activities, says the same source.
In the Oriental, a total of 386 activities were organized, including 98 musical activities, while the region of Dakhla-Oued-Eddahab has organized 281 activities, of which 98 have been dedicated to the book, reports the document, adding that the region of Guelmim-Oued Noun has experienced the organization of 254 cultural activities, including 105 musical activities.
The ministry will introduce awards for recognition and motivation to intensify the work and ensure the development and upgrading of cultural activities in the Kingdom, both quantitatively and qualitatively, the statement said. Conscious of the importance of regional cultural action in strengthening the production and consumption of culture to meet the needs of citizens according to the principles of democracy and equality, the Department of Culture is careful to mechanisms to promote cultural activities at the regional level, the same source said.
It also encourages the decentralized services of the Department of Culture to make greater efforts to devote cultural achievements, as it engages in national efforts to expand the powers of regions under the provisions of the Constitution Kingdom on advanced regionalization, concludes the document.
