The Royal Armed Forces continue to source supplies from the US market. The 24 Apache AH-64E helicopters ordered from Boeing will be fitted with Longbow FCR-type radars manufactured by Longbow Limited.
The company won the $ 164.6 million contract to supply the equipment to Morocco, the Netherlands, India and the United Arab Emirates, the Pentagon has announced on its news site.
“The LBL team is delighted to integrate the Army of Morocco, the Netherlands and India into the Longbow FCR user community, and to update the Emirates with new capabilities, as the missions in the ever-changing US allies will benefit from our precision engagement capabilities,” said Jim Messina, Longbow Program Director at Lockheed, in a press release. “The Longbow radar remains a relevant and important system for missions flown by Apache crews,” he added.
On November 19, the “Defense Security Cooperation Agency” informed Congress of Morocco’s order for 36 Apache AH-64E helicopters, including twelve as options, for $ 4.25 billion.
The deadline for radar deliveries is December 31, 2022, specifies the Pentagon.
