Morocco organizes the 2019 African Games

Morocco will organize the 12th edition of the African Games, considered the biggest sports event in Africa, in October 2019, after the withdrawal of Equatorial Guinea and on the proposal of the African Union (AU) and the National Olympic Committees (NOCs).

The AU and the Supervisory Committee have estimated that the Kingdom has all the conditions and expertise necessary for the organization of international sports events of such magnitude, said the Ministry of Youth and Sports in a statement.

He added that this major continental event will be marked by the participation of more than 5,000 professional and amateur athletes competing in the Olympic and non-Olympic Games, some of whom have qualified for the World Olympic Games.

For more than a century, the African Games have been held every four years under the supervision of the AU and in coordination with the National Olympic Committees in Africa and the Association of African Sports Confederations (AASC), said the same source.
