Morocco received this Thursday, February 11 a second delivery of the Astrazeneca vaccine of 4 million doses. This new batch will ensure vaccination for 2 million additional people.
As previously announced, and after multiple postponements, Morocco receives this Thursday, February 11, a new delivery of the Astrazenenca vaccine from India.
The RAM Dreamliner departed for Bombay on Wednesday 10 February and made the return journey today. The plane had just landed when this article was posted.
On board, a batch of 4 million doses of the vaccine, we learn from a reliable source, pending the official press release from the Ministry of Health. This second delivery comes hours after the Indian government authorized the Serum Institute of India (SII) to begin commercial deliveries to 25 countries including Morocco.
This second delivery will allow Morocco to vaccinate 2 million additional people. The vaccination operation has already started, targeting 1.25 million people thanks to the 2.5 million doses received the last week of January.
To date, the kingdom has received 6.5 million doses including 6 from Astrazeneca and 500,000 from Sinopharm. According to our information, another delivery of 700,000 doses of Sinopharm is expected in the coming days.
As a reminder, Morocco has ordered 25.5 million AstraZeneca vaccine and 40.5 million doses of Sinopharm vaccine.
Astrazeneca still has to deliver 19.5 million doses and Sinopharm 40 million doses.
